Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower have split after more than 20 years of marriage.

Sources confirmed to various publications that the two have separated and are living apart.

“Sometimes things don’t work out the way you hope or want them to,” one told People.

De Niro – who most recently appeared in the TV movie The Wizard of Lies – and socialite-turned-philanthropist Hightower married in 1997 after dating for a decade.

They have two children together; a 20-year-old son, Elliott, and 6-year-old daughter, Helen Grace.

The pair have previously parted ways before, with De Niro, 75, filing for Divorce in 1999 and engaging in a custody battle over their son.

They smoothed things over and renewed their vows in 2004, with Martin Scorsese, Meryl Streep and Ben Stiller amid the audience.

Neither De Niro or Hightower, 63, have released statements on the news.

The Raging Bull actor has four other children; a daughter and son with former wife Diahnne Abbott, as well as twin sons with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith.
