It's fair to say that Captain America: Civil War has been one of the most critically-acclaimed Marvel films yet with the high point commonly cited as the introduction of Spider-Man.

Russian audiences, however, were left underwhelmed due to the voice actor who was dubbed over Tom Holland's web-slinger.

In fact, fans were left so disappointed that an online petition was formed on Change.org calling for the young voice actor to be replaced for Marvel's future instalments.

The petition - which has since been closed - racked up over 4,000 signatures of people who wanted Vladimir Kanuhin replaced.

Many believe the voice actor sounds too young with one signee commenting: "This is important because Spider-Man's [Russian] voice didn't absolutely correspond to the character. Okay, he is a school kid, but that doesn't mean he has to sound like a 10-year-old."

With Civil War being Kanuhin's first professional gig, dubbing company NevaFilm has stood by its decision to employ him telling The Hollywood Reporter his voice was approved by the film's production company.

Whether or not the dubbing company will stick with the young voice actor for Spider-Man's upcoming solo outing Homecoming remains to be seen.
