Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - trailer

The running time of the forthcoming Star Wars film has been revealed.

Earlier this week, the final trailer for Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker was released, causing excitement among the fan community as well as concern for one of the franchise’s longest-standing characters.

Now, the length of the JJ Abrams-directed sequel has been confirmed to be 155 minutes.

“People keep telling me they know me... no one does,” Rey says at one point in the new trailer as her relationship to the Force (and her potential Skywalker ties) are teased further.

Star Wars 9 will focus on the regrouping of the Resistance following heavy losses against the First Order and Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi (2017).

One huge theory that’s been doing the rounds about the forthcoming film predicts the return of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker. Many believe the title itself refers to the character who became Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith (2005).

Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker reaches cinemas on 16 December 2019.
