Star Wars 8 actor Adam Driver doesn't think there should be a trailer

Whether you like them or not, trailers must - in some small way - affect your film-watching experience, especially in a time when fans scrupulously analyse every still in a bid to discover some key information about a film that's more than likely over six months away (we did it with Baywatch).

There's yet to be a trailer for Star Wars: Episode VIII - and one of the film's stars believes it should stay that way.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Adam Driver agreed that Disney should groundbreakingly refuse to release a trailer in a bid to preserve the film's secrets.

He said:

"I think that’d be bold. I’d love it, yeah. Then no one would know anything. The less people know, I feel like, the more exciting… the more of an event it is."  

Driver - who'll next be seen in Scorsese film Silence - appears in Episode VII: The Force Awakens as villain Kylo Ren; while the film didn't exactly suffer from having trailers - it stands up as a great entry into the Star Wars canon - you do spend the majority of its opening half for the Millennium Falcon as well as Han and Chewie to show up.

The reviews for Rogue One have just been released, with many deeming the first of LucasFilms' three planned anthology films to be a flawed yet great example of what the franchise can offer. It's released this coming Thursday (16 December).

Episode VIII - directed by Rian Johnson - will be released December 2017.
