Star Wars: Samuel L. Jackson believes Mace Windu is still alive despite seemingly dying in Revenge of the Sith
'George Lucas was like, ‘I’m okay with him being alive. You can be alive''
Despite having his hand cut off, being electrocuted by Emperor Palpatine, and falling from the 278th floor of a building in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Mace Windu may actually still be alive.
At least, that’s according to actor Samuel L. Jackson, who revealed in a Twitter Q&A that he thinks the Jedi Master survived, telling one fan: ”In my mind, I'm not dead. Jedi can fall incredibly high distances and not die.”
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he clarified his comments, saying: “Of course he is! Jedi can fall from amazing distances. And there’s a long history of one-handed Jedi. So why not?”
He’s not exactly wrong; in Episode II, during Anakin’s chase through Coruscant, we see the young Padawan fall an exceptionally long way, just to grab onto a nearby speeder. Could Windu have done the same thing?
If he did survive, where would he be? Asked by EW if he would lay low like Obi-Wan, Jackson answered that’s “exactly” what he would do.
Apparently, the only person from the Star Wars team who knows of Jackson’s thoughts is Lucas: “But George doesn’t have anything to do with it anymore. [He was] like, ‘I’m okay with [him being alive]. You can be alive.’”

Show all 45So there you go; the creator of the galaxy far, far away is fine with Windu still being alive. Could an appearance in the sequel series/a spin-off be a possibility? We can only hope.
In other Star Wars news, James Cameron recently said he wasn’t too impressed with The Force Awakens, calling it “a retrenchment to things you had seen before”.
