Star Wars star takes responsibility for lost Rise of Skywalker script that surfaced on eBay

Actor says incident was 'scary'

Star Wars actor John Boyega has taken responsibility for losing a Rise to Skywalker script that later surfaced on eBay.

Boyega, who portrays Finn in the franchise, confessed on Good Morning America on Wednesday that he was the one to blame for the incident.

“It was me!” he told Michael Strahan.

“Let me tell you how this went down. What happened was – it was actually from my apartment, I was moving apartments, and I left the script under my bed. I was just like, you know what, I’m going to leave it under my bed and when I wake up in the morning I'll take it and then move.

"But then my boys came over, and we started partying a little bit, and then the script just stayed there. And then a few weeks after, this cleaner comes in, finds the script, and then puts it on eBay for like £65 [$84]."

Turning to the audience, Boyega added: "The person didn't know the true value!" He then joked: "And I actually thought this was a great opportunity for the fans to read the movie before they see it. Maybe I'm on to something!"

He said the incident was "scary" and joked that "even Mickey Mouse" called him to berate him.

JJ Abrams revealed the existence of the lost script earlier this week, explaining that one of the film's cast members had left it under their bed.

At the time, he refrained from naming the actor in question.

The Rise of Skywalker, the final instalment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, will be released on 19 December in the UK and 20 December in the US.
