Star Wars: The Force Awakens has become the fastest film to make $1 billion at the box office, breaking records in just 12 days.

The previous film to reach $1 billion the fasest was Jurassic World, which did it in 13 days.

The Force Awakens also had the biggest Christmas Day box office takings in history, making $49.3 million.

It also had the best second-weekend earnings, making $153.5 million.

J. J. Abrams' Star Wars was released to critical acclaim, with many praising how the film captured the spirit of Star Wars.

Fans were quick to discover the cameo roles played by Daniel Craig, Ewan McGregor and Simon Pegg in the film.
