Star Wars: The Last Jedi Back trailer

*SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI*

It's been over three weeks since Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit cinemas.

Time enough to see the film one time, three times, seven times (if you were so inclined) - but perhaps you're still hungry for more. Director Rian Johnson has revealed 20 minutes of deleted scenes are currently planned for the home entertainment release of the film, and we can already get an idea of what those scenes may be.

SlashFilm has collected the details on several scenes that made the cutting room floor. One of the most intriguing was set to happen after Rey and Luke discuss Darth Sidious, as she notices boats arriving at the island next to a huge fire.

Luke tells her that the visitors are bandits who regularly plunder the island and kill the caretakers. Rey, always the hero, rushes to help them; Luke tells her that intervening will mean the bandits only come back stronger in the future, asking her whether she'll always be there to protect them and asserting a true Jedi Knight would do nothing to maintain the balance, even if there are casualties.

She ignores his advice and rushes in with her lightsaber ignited (a shot seen in one of the behind-the-scenes featurettes), only to discover there are no bandits, but that the caretakers are having a party - alongside Chewbacca, R2-D2, and a few porgs.

Rey confronts Luke and he apologises for his prank, but explains Rey's reaction is exactly what the resistance needs - not the dying old morals of the Jedi religion. Rey bursts into tears, explaining that her real friends are dying and "that old legend of Luke Skywalker that you hate so much, I believed in it." She storms off, and Luke is left in shock.

The scene was apparently cut as Lucasfilm Story Group thought Luke's actions pushed the boundaries too far. He's an asshole, but not that much of an asshole, and it didn't feel authentic enough to the Jedi "code".

A few moments from Canto Bight were also cut: there were plenty more creatures, which may even be reused for Solo: A Star Wars Story, alongside further romantic tension between Rose and Finn, and a longer chase scene.

Tom Hardy's cameo as a stormtrooper was cut, which sees Finn and Rose in an elevator finishing off their First Order disguises, before a stormtrooper enters and exclaims to Finn, "I know who you are... FN 2187! Damn boy, I never took you for officer material!"

Phasma also had an extra moment which saw Finn begging the stormtroopers at her side to escape the First Order, just like he did, before Phasma guns them down before they even have a chance to consider the proposal.

Several reshoots involved re-framing Admiral Holdo, who was originally far more condescending to Poe, calling him "honey". Her character was made less abrasive so it would be easier for audiences to understand her later actions. There was also another scene between Finn and Poe that was cut for time.
