This Sunday (5 February) sees the New England Patriots take on Atlanta Falcons in Houston, Texas for Super Bowl 51.

Considering it's one of the most watched sporting events in the world, it's understandable that film studios view the opportunity as a prime spot to showcase its upcoming films. Consequently, the release of tie-in TV spots has become as synonymous with the event as kiss cams and touchdowns.

So, which films can viewers expect to see glimpses of this weekend?

First up is Life, the Sony/Skydance sci-fi film Life starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and The Girl on the Train's Rebecca Ferguson. Written by Deadpool's Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the story follows a Space Station crew tasked with studying a sample that may be the first evidence of extraterrestrial life.

Considering 2017 is a year that'll see the release of new films in the Transformers and Fast & Furious franchises, it comes as no surprise to learn there'll be appearances from upcoming sequels Fast & Furious 8 - brilliantly named The Fate of the Furious in the US - and Transformers: The Last Knight which will see, among other things, Mark Wahlberg return and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Winston Churchill.

New reports suggest that the Super Bowl will also provide a new glimpse at Paramount's anime adaptation Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson.

Elsewhere, Disney is expected to have two spots during the event (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will no doubt be one of them while other contenders include the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge and Pixar film Cars 3).

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has made no secret about the fact that there'll be a fresh look at the upcoming Baywatch film he stars in alongside Alexandra Daddario and Zac Efron. You can check out the first trailer for the film here.

Star Wars fans are remaining expectant that Lucasfilm will use the sporting event as an opportunity to drop the first trailer for Episode VIII - The Last Jedi.

Last year's event saw trailers for The Jungle Book, Captain America: Civil War, Jason Bourne and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Some of the advertisements - including this one from the Coen Brothers - have already been released in the run-up to the event.
