Disney's Mulan trailer

The final trailer for the Mulan live-action remake was unveiled during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

In the two-minute clip – one of the first to be revealed during the sporting event – Mulan (Liu Yifei) can be seen preparing for battle on behalf of her father, to spare him from being recruited into the army.

The plot follows that of the 1998 animated film, which itself is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan.

There are some differences between the animated version and the live-action remake, though in both cases Mulan starts out being told that she must find a husband in order to bring honour to her family.

After each household is asked to send one male into battle, Mulan poses as a man and joins the military.

The live-action remake’s main antagonist is named Bori Khan (played by Jason Scott Lee) and fights alongside a witch called Xian Lang (portrayed by Gong Li).

The live-action remake of Mulan will premiere on 27 March, 2020.
