A film studio is so disappointed with its Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel that the footage filmed so far has been ditched.

Production began on the new horror film in Bulgaria earlier this month, but Legendary Pictures is so unimpressed with what it has seen that bosses have decided to part ways with its directors, the duo Andy and Ryan Tohill.

According to Deadline, the decision was made this week, and new hire David Blue Garcia will completely reshoot the film.

The film is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic, and will pick up where main antagonist, Leatherface, left off.

Leading the cast of the film is Elsie Fisher, who shot to fame following her acclaimed role in Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade.

Sarah Tarkin, Jacob Latimore and Moe Dunford will also appear in the movie, which is set to be released in 2021.

The most recent film set in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre universe was Leatherface (2017), which told the villain’s origin story.

The original, which starred Marilyn Burns and Gunnar Hansen, is widely considered one of the scariest horror films of all time.

Legendary is yet to comment on the news.
