Star Wars: The Force Awakens has dropped its second trailer, seeing Harrison Ford back in the role of Han Solo.

The teaser premiered at the vast Star Wars convention taking place in Anaheim this week, which Force Awakens director JJ Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy kicked off this morning with a special panel.

It had been strongly rumoured that a trailer would open proceedings, with the convention's official website saying it would be opening in 'a big way'.

The trailer was posted on YouTube (presumably to avoid smartphone-shot low-res vids popping up online) and has already set fans and forums theorising over what its snapshots of scenes say with regards to the film's plot and characters.

The first teaser back in November of last year has now attracted 62 million views on YouTube and showed off a good amount of the film - unlike Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which has been drip-feeding six-second clips of empty superhero suits.

Star Wars fans were so amped for the convention that many queued up for it overnight, with Abrams taking pity on those waiting in the street and buying everyone a load of pizza.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in UK cinemas on 18 December, 2015.
