The Something: There's a new 'stranded in space' movie and it stars Zach Galifianakis
The space-set comedy will co-star Bill Hader and Seth Rogen
The space genre's about to get a full-blown comedy reworking from the team behind This Is the End and Bad Neighbours.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Evan Goldberg will reunite with Seth Rogen for The Something, a sci-fi comedy co-starring Zack Galifianakis (The Hangover) and Bill Hader (Trainwreck).
The film will follow a group of astronauts who, after years in orbit, discover another ship.
There has been an influx of space-set films over the past few years with Gravity, Interstellar and Ridley Scott's critical and commercial hit The Martian (even if the latter was not the laugh-out-loud comedy the Golden Globes believed it to be).
If Goldberg and Rogen's previous team-ups are anything to go by, The Something could well tear up the science-fiction rulebook.
Galifianakis starred in last year's Oscar-winner Birdman and will next be seen in Keeping Up with the Joneses from director Greg Mottola (Superbad).
As well as starring in Trainwreck, 2015 saw Hader provide voicework for Pixar film Inside Out and serve as a vocal consultant for Star Wars: The Force Awakens droid BB-8. He will feature in Steven Spielberg's upcoming adaptation ofThe BFG.
The Something will be directed by scriptwriter Rodney Rothman (Grudge Match, 22 Jump Street).
