Trailer: Thor Ragnarok

New Marvel film Thor: Ragnarok has been released in the UK to positive reviews from critics praising New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi from bringing a comic edge to the superhero franchise with bold performances from Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and, yes, even Tom Hiddleston.

As you'd expect from a new Marvel film, there are a number of post-credits scenes that don't so much move the story on as tease the forthcoming Avenger: Infinity War and put a comedic full stop the zany film that came before it.

*Warning: MAJOR spoilers follow*

The film ends as Thor, Loki and the remaining population of Asgard leave their now-obliterated planet packed away in a spaceship bound for who knows where. The first post-credits sequence picks up with Thor and Loki looking over the galaxy as the spaceship floats through space pondering where the safest place to go would be.

“Everything’s going to work out fine,” Thor tells his brother as a rather threatening gigantic spaceship parks itself in front of theirs. While the scene ends there leaving its occupants a mystery, it's no stretch to assume this is Thanos (Josh Brolin) who'll be taking chief villain duties in the new Avengers film.

This moment looks to precede the Infinity War scene shown at Comic-Con in which Thor, injured and floating alone in the middle of space - is picked up by the Guardians of the Galaxy crew. It seems Thanos' encounter with the Asgardians is not going to end well.

The very last post-credits scene is more in line with the one featuring Captain America shown at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. It features Goldblum's character Grandmaster, the ruler of trash planet Sakaar, and takes place after Thor and Loki have escaped the planet: Grandmaster emerges from his fallen ship and addresses his very dissatisfied citizens. “The revolution has a been a huge success,” Grandmaster exclaims. “It’s a tie.”
