He might have been busy with Legend and The Revenant recently, but Tom Hardy has revealed that all he really wants to do is bring back Bane.

The English actor played the brutal villain in Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises. Three years later, has voiced his desire to return to the DC universe and show the superheroes who's boss.

"Of course [I'd return]. I'm Bane," he told MTV. "Somebody asked me who would I want to win out in a fight between Superman and Batman and I would like to hold the pair of them under the water until the bubbles stop."

Hardy shot to the heights of fame after his menacing performance as 'The Man Who Broke the Bat' in 2012. The fearsome metal mask Bane wore meant Hardy had to act primarily through his eyes.

Batman fans will next see Ben Affleck in the lead, starring alongside Henry Cavill as Superman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lux Luthor and Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman, when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice reaches cinemas on 25 March next year.

This film is unrelated to Nolan's trilogy, but we're still hopeful of seeing Hardy teaching Batman and Superman a lesson again soon.
