Valerian trailer: Cara Delevingne and Rihanna star in first clip from Luc Besson's sci-fi CGI extravaganza
Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Blade Runner icon Rutger Hauer also star
Having previously directed two incredible sci-fi films (The Fifth Element and Lucy), Luc Besson is returning to the genre with an ambitious adaptation of French series Valérian and Laureline, titled Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets.
After months of waiting, the first trailer has finally landed, featuring Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, and Rihanna.
The two-minute trip, soundtracked by The Beatles’ “Because”, is a rip-roaring adventure through outer space, featuring huge amounts of CG and some dialogue.
Besson has yet to reveal specific plot details, but Delevingne and DeHaan star as time-travelling, universe-crossing space agents who are dedicated to protecting the human race in the 28th century.
The film's intriguing cast also includes Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Blade Runner icon Rutger Hauer and, perhaps most surprisingly, jazz legend Herbie Hancock.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will hit cinemas in July 2017.
