A teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's ambitious Science Fiction drama Interstellar has been released.

The short two-minute clip features a voiceover from Matthew McConaughey, who makes a grandiose speech about overcoming the impossible.

He finishes with the ominous words: "Perhaps we've just forgotten that we're still pioneers and we've barely begun and that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, that our destiny lies above us."

Despite the epic tone of this teaser and the archive footage, it gives away very little about the forthcoming film, apart from a grave-looking McConaughey driving away. There is also the heavy prominence of corn fields and crops which could hint at a potential food shortage on Earth.

This will be Nolan's first film to be based on an original script since Inception in 2010, who has been working on the Dark Knight trilogy. The story has been written by Nolan's brother Jonathan and is inspired by the work of physicist Kip Thorne, who has carried out research on the possibility of time machines and wormholes.

Interstellar will focus on a group of space explorers who use a new wormhole to travel through the universe and enter unchartered territory.

It has a star-studded cast which includes McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon and Michael Caine.

Interstellar will be released in November 2014.
