Trailer season is truly upon us: today alone, we’ve already seen brand new clips of both Spider-Man: Homecoming, the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, and now War for the Planet of the Apes.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the film marks the third film in the rebooted Planet of the Apes series which began with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, starring James Franco.
Following the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, humans and Apes are embroiled in war, Andy Serkis’s leading ape, Caesar, commanding a huge colony of animals.
War for the Planet of the Apes will introduce villain, The Colonel, played by Woody Harrelson, who appears in the trailer. “This is our last stand. And if we lose, it will be a planet of apes,” he says in the trailer, which you can watch above.
Teasing the film, Serkis called it "the most psychologically intense and physically challenging part of this arc. It was a very testing and very ambitious project."
