What We Do in the Shadows: First trailer for TV spin-off based on vampire comedy series
The series moves the action to Staten Island and introduces a new cast of characters
The first trailer for the What We Do in the Shadows TV spin-off has been unveiled.
The vampire mockumentary series is based on the film of the same name from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, which imagined a group of vampires in a flatshare in Wellington, New Zealand.
The series moves the action to Staten Island and introduces a new cast of characters, played by Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén and Mark Proksch.
The group’s self-appointed leader is Nandor The Relentless (Novak), a warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire, who has a familiar in Guillermo (Guillén).
He’s joined by British vampire Laszlo (Berry), a dandy-like character, and seductress Nadja (Demetriou). Proksch plays Colin Robinson, a vampire who feasts on a human’s energy, while Lady Bird‘s Beanie Feldstein appears as Nadja’s new friend Jenna, a student a nearby community college.
Created by Clement, the 10-episode series is set to premiere in the US on Wednesday, 27 March at 10pm on FX. The series will also air on the BBC in the UK.
