What would you give for Marilyn Monroe's last film script?

The script belonging to Marilyn Monroe for the last film she worked on before her death will be auctioned next week.

Her copy of the 'Something's Got to Give' screenplay dated 1962 is being auctioned online by PFC Auctions on 27 September.

Monroe struggled with a sinus infection during production and was fired by 20th Century Fox after turning up to work on only 12 occasions during 35 days of filming.

The studio cited terms for her dismissal as “the wilful failure and refusal of Miss Monroe…to fully perform and comply with the terms and conditions of said agreement on her part to be performed….”

Lee Remick was cast as her replacement but co-star Dean Martin said he wouldn't continue filming with another actress which led to Monroe's reinstatement by 20th Century Fox on condition she produce two further movies with them.

But 'Something's Got to Give' would never be completed, with filming set to recommence in October 1962. Monroe was found dead on 5 August that year and production on the film was terminated.

Despite its incompletion the film continues to fuel Monroe's iconic status, including a scene where she goes skinny dipping in a swimming pool.

“This script is an exceptional memento from Marilyn’s last film, once owned by the icon herself. A delightful piece of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia,” PFC Auctions spokesperson Kylie Whitehead said.
