X-men Apocalypse director Bryan Singer teases Fantastic Four crossover

A cinematic universe set to rival Marvel's own

From DC to Robin Hood, everyone’s rushing to make cinematic universes to rival Marvel’s own, and it seems Fox will almost certainly be expanding their X-Men universe even further.

Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four – or is it Fant4stic? – is yet to hit cinemas but it has already been revealed that talks of a crossover between the reboot and the mutant films are definitely happening, and they’re being led by director Bryan Singer.

“Those ideas are in play,” he told Yahoo movies. “That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.”

Could time travel, like in Days of Future Past, be on the table? X-Men already has one of the worst continuity threads in cinema history, and with the inclusion of the Fantastic Four heroes things could get a lot messier.

The upcoming reboot of the original Marvel family is also set to deal with parallel universes which could be used to bring the two sets of characters together. After all, the comic have had plenty of parallel universes in the past.

Singer added, however: “We’ll have to see how the films turn out. To just say you’re going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that.”

Funnily enough a sequel to Fantastic Four has already been announced, so unless the film flops really badly it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of the four heroes.

Fantastic Four is out in 6 August later this year while X-Men Apocolaypse will reach cinemas 27 May 2016.
