Pitt to take on 'The Tiger'

Brad Pitt is joining an action thriller project with director Darren Aronofsky ( The Wrestler) called The Tiger, based on a nonfiction book by John Vaillant, with Guillermo Arriaga ( Babel) writing the script.

The story takes place on the Siberian plain where a tiger turns on intruders in its habitat. A conservationist game warden must face down the tiger when people are mysteriously hunted down by the creature.

Pitt and Aronofsky attempted  to work together on a couple of other films - Aronofsky's sci-fi drama The Fountain which starred Hugh Jackman and The Fighter which David O. Russell ended up directing with Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg.

Pitt will star in the upcoming The Tree of Life with Sean Penn by acclaimed director Terrence Malick ( Badlands, Days of Heaven).

Aronofsky's Black Swan with Natalie Portman and Winona Ryder will release later this year.
