I'd say you couldn't make it up, except that Craig (Hustle and Flow) Brewer did. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall when he pitched this one to the studio, and oh, to have seen the looks on the execs' faces when they realised it wasn't meant to be a comedy. All credit to Jackson and Ricci for playing this twaddle straight. Really, though.
