The prequel to The Da Vinci Code again stars Tom Hanks as academic Robert Langdon, this time rushing around Rome in a bid to thwart the conspirators threatening to blow up the Vatican.
Like the earlier film, there is much huff and puff – with gory murders, atomic bombs, parachuting priests and innumerable moments of unintentional comedy – but no satisfaction to be derived from the story-telling. A smug film, requiring an awful lot of Hail Marys...
