A trucker pitches up at a bar in dusty Dampier in Western Australia and is confronted by a group of mournful miners eager to regale him with tales of Red Dog, a heroic, loving hound who is dying in the backroom.
They tell him how the pooch became an emotional saviour for these lonely men for over a decade. Adapted from Louis de Bernières' novel, this is a soft-hearted, droll drama in the vein of Local Hero.
