DVD & Blu-ray review: Anna Karenina (12A)

A ravishing Keira Knightley very nearly convinces in Joe Wright's wilfully odd – most scenes take place in a theatre – adaptation of Tolstoy's tragedy.

She plays the doomed aristocrat who embarks on an affair with a preening count (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, miscast). There can be no peace for them. This is grand soap opera, with some exquisitely choreographed bustle and snappy dialogue from Tom Stoppard but best of all, surprisingly, is Jude Law's nuanced performance as Anna's wronged husband.
