Craving your next box-set? Time for a Fringe binge. J J Abrams' unhinged sci-fi starts out as a slick police procedural, with hints of The X-Files, before morphing into something very unusual indeed.

Its success relies heavily on the chemistry between plucky FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv), Joshua Jackson's wisecracking Peter and, mainly, on John Noble's scene-stealing "mad scientist" Walter.
