It lacks the wonder, vim and tunes of The Wizard of Oz, but Sam Raimi's fantasy prequel does benefit from some arresting images and an amusing monkey (Zach Braff).

A grinning James Franco plays Oscar Diggs, a circus magician/con man who crash lands in the magical realm of Oz. Once there, he flirts with three witches, incensing two (Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis) and charming the other, the Good Witch (Michelle Williams). Once seen, this undemanding adventure is instantly forgotten.
