After their outstanding alliance on Hunger, Steve McQueen again coaxes a hugely committed turn out of Michael Fassbender in this tale of a desensitised sex addict who unravels when his damaged sister (Carey Mulligan) comes to stay in his flash Manhattan apartment.
The siblings, clearly, have abusive pasts, but this nihilistic tale doesn't bother to explain what they might be, which is a great shame as you really need to know.
