David Fincher delivers an atmospheric but slightly unnecessary (after the 2009 Swedish version) adaptation of Stieg Larsson's thriller.

Daniel Craig is reliably intense as the disgraced journalist Blomkvist, but Rooney Mara (above) is more compelling as the cyber-goth heroine Lisbeth Salander. However, Christopher Plummer steals it as the steely industrialist who wants to know what happened to his presumed dead niece.
