David Simon's fiercely intelligent series continues to chart the lives of a hazardous New Orleans neighbourhood after Hurricane Katrina.
Like Simon's The Wire, Treme is a persuasively angry, meandering polemic, that tackles politics, jazz, crime and the law. If the first series was a bit of a slow-burner, this second series packs a lot more punch, with the stand-out characters being Melissa Leo's dogged civil-rights lawyer and David Morse's thoughtful cop.
