The latest gem from HBO, this offbeat sitcom stars Jason Schwartzmann as an author who sets himself up as an unlicenced detective, and then bumbles through cases alongside his neurotic friend, Zac Galifianakis, and a high-living magazine editor, Ted Danson.

The series' knowing, Brooklyn hipness is balanced by the fact that it's as warm as it is cool, so to speak, with a sweetness that's rare in today's TV comedy.
