Steven Soderbergh’s post-Bourne spy movie is – in spite of the presence of Antonio Banderas and Michael Fassbender – a showcase for Gina Carano, a mixed martial arts champ who’d never done any acting before.
And, to be fair, she certainly looks as if she knows what she’s doing in the fight sequences. The problem is that Soderbergh doesn’t give her many, opting instead for drawn-out, meandering dialogue scenes which don’t do her any favours.
