The original 1978 cult classic caused a furore due to the lengthy gang-rape scene, and drew criticism for being exploitative.
Three decades on and we're hardened to scenes of torture, calling for the remake to go even further. The story follows Jennifer Hills, a young writer who retreats to a cabin to write her next novel, who inadvertently embarrasses a local man, leading to a violent and sexual group attack – and brutal, perverse revenge.
Not the sort of film you'll feel comfortable watching alone, or want to watch again, but the actors face the gruelling challenge the story demands head-on, creating an eerie tension throughout.
