A video-store worker collaborates with a gang of misfits on a needlessly baroque and convoluted plan to exact revenge on the respective arms manufacturers responsible for the bullet in his brain and the landmine that killed his father.
Magical-realist filmmaker Jean-Pierre (Amélie) Jeunet has a singular visual sensibility, and lead actor Dany Boon is an expressive physical comedian. But quirky is an odd register for a film about the arms trade, and the unrelenting whimsy becomes too much to bear.
