DVD: Monsters, For retail & rental (Momentum)

Monsters, like Cloverfield, shows an alien invasion from the perspective of the man in the street, in this instance a photojournalist who's travelling through Mexico as an heiress's chaperone.

They barely glimpse the tentacled extra-terrestrials in the area, hence this resourceful, winningly original film is more like an indie road movie than a typical sci-fi blockbuster. A bit of plot and tension wouldn't have gone amiss, though.
