A comedy about an all-female student a capella group, Pitch Perfect rehashes a plot that's older than Mickey Rooney.
The group's queen bee insists that they stick to their tried-and-tested repertoire, but the arty, alternative heroine (the gratingly negative and self-satisfied Anna Kendrick) wants to shake things up with her radical mash-ups. As clichéd as it is, the film is saved by one small detail: it's actually funny.
