Crikey Moses! Andrzej Zulawski's 1981 "video nasty" is not for the weak of stomach, featuring as it does a horrific miscarriage, throat slashing and vomiting.
It's the fraught, unsettling tale of Anna and Mark (Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill) and their ruinous relationship, which spirals into howling, violence and self-mutilation. While Mark is away on a secret mission, Anna shacks up with a philosophy-spouting karate expert, Heinrich. Anna wisely leaves this nut, only to have a relationship with a tentacled beast. She's possessed, you see. The camerawork is wayward, the settings drab, the acting often wildly OTT, and the dialogue, in places, preposterous. Bonkers.
