DVD: Prometheus (15)

After a rather protracted set-up, in which Michael Fassbender scene steals as the prim android David 8, it's business as usual in this fifth, grandiose slice of Alien.

Two fervent archaeologists (Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green) trigger a scientific expedition to a forlorn planet, joined by Idris Elba's hardnut captain and Charlize Theron's corporate boss. The set designs here are immaculate and Rapace is a convincing heroine, but this prequel lacks the suspense of Alien and chutzpah and thrills of Aliens.
