Peter Morgan and Michael Sheen, the screenwriter and star of The Queen and Frost/ Nixon, collaborate on yet another true-life drama.

But their re-creation of Brian Clough's disastrous stint as Leeds manager has a whiff of diminishing returns about it. An affectionate homage to 1970s football, it's an upbeat alternative to the humourless Hollywood model of an inspirational sports biopic, but it doesn't leave the viewer with any insight into what made Clough unique.
