Three films from the great Indian director Ray, each of which casts a cynical eye over injustices in his homeland.
Sadgati (Deliverance) provides a brutal assessment of the caste system; Ghare-Baire (The Home and the World) sheds light on the inconsistencies of the independence movement alongside a commentary on the emancipation of women; while Ganashatru offers a searing indictment of political corruption. Simple, but emotionally and intellectually heavyweight.
