Land of the Lost (12A), Brad Silberling, 110 mins
Based on a 1970s TV series, this spoof adventure epic stars Will Ferrell as an idiot palaeontologist whose invention of a showtune-singing time machine magicks him and two friends into a parallel dimension where dinosaurs roam.
It's a kind of cut-price Jurassic Park, with a support cast of gabbling monkeys and lizardish humanoids, and if they don't seem far-fetched you might believe Anna Friel as a Cambridge- educated scientist. The special effects look tinny, but Ferrell's clowning and Danny McBride's dim-bulb sidekick will probably be a hit with 12-year-olds.
