The climax to this Chinese fantasy is a mishmash of special effects so confusing one wonders if the cast knew what was going on, let alone the audience.
It concerns the possession of magical superpowers – mostly telekinetic stuff – and the perils of their misuse. When a university professor (Bak-Ming Wong) collides with a student (Karena Ng) he accidentally yields his powers to her. The student suddenly finds herself the volleyball team's MVP, and can even magically finesse a no-hoper's victory in a decathlon. It's pretty harmless, though the "magic" on display may remind you of old episodes of Bewitched – it's that corny. And the British distributors might have helped out with the inept subtitling.
