Flics with flares, jangly rock music, brown wallpaper, Jason King moustaches – yes, the Seventies happened in France, too.

This tale of two siblings stars Guillaume Canet as a police detective and François Cluzet as his ne'er-do-well older brother, hot out of jail and soon drifting back to the margins of crime. Featuring possibly the quickest bank heist ever committed to screen, Rivals bumps along agreeably, if not scintillatingly, though Canet and Cluzet are a good match as the frères maudits.
