"When a butterfly leaves the safety of its cocoon, does it realise how beautiful it has become?" And when a writer-director christens his main characters Love, Happiness, Pleasure and Sorrow, does he realise what a prat he looks?

You can tell that Lee's background is in advertising, from the mismatch between the lavishness of the budgets, the thinness of the ideas, and the unshakable conviction that this film contains a Truly Important Message. Bizarrely, those induced to take part include Forest Whitaker, Kevin Bacon, Julie Delpy, Brendan Fraser and Andy Garcia.
