The Fold, film review: Stilted and unconvincing in the extreme

As a study of a woman attempting to cope with bereavement, The Fold registers strongly enough.

There is a sensitive and soulful performance from Catherine McCormack as an improbably beautiful Anglican priest, grieving over the death of her daughter.

The wrinkles here lie in a contrived plot which sees the priest befriend an impoverished and emotionally troubled Bulgarian teenager (Marina Stoimenova) who reminds her of the dead child.

The scenes between them are stilted and unconvincing in the extreme.
