This rich adaptation of Armistead Maupin's novel stars Robin Williams (right) as a writer who receives a manuscript from an abused 14-year-old boy.
The two of them form a close friendship via telephone, but Williams starts to doubt whether he can believe everything the boy has been saying. It's a dark, absorbing mystery - but take a look at that scanty running time. One character tells Williams, "Your story doesn't have an ending", and it's an assessment which could be applied to the film as well.
