Gently whimsical time travel yarn: 'The Year and the vineyard'

This gently whimsical time-travel yarn starts with Andrea Pesce (Andrea Calabrese), a Sicilian member of the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War, falling through the sky and landing in a small village in contemporary Spain.

The locals think he is an angel and cannot understand why he speaks Italian. He, though, is utterly baffled by his new surroundings and extremely concerned about the beautiful girlfriend he left behind in the 1930s.

The writer-director Jon Cenzual keeps matters light and playful enough to get away with the sheer idiosyncrasy of his premise.
