Putting up a fight is a group of Territorials, who dodge the "hostiles" across the snowbound countryside as well as the armed bandits – yet more wannabe horrors in thrall to Cormac McCarthy's The Road. The "diaries" part refers to the videocam wielded by one of the survivors, as ever an unlikely recording presence when everyone else is running and screaming.
