Vincent D’Onofrio wants to join Spider-Man: Homecoming
Could Manhattan's Kingpin make an appearance in Queens?
Vincent D’Onofrio, who stars in Daredevil as the villainous Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, says he’s interested in joining Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film.
D’Onofrio responded to rumors on Friday by admitting that he hasn’t been contacted by Sony Pictures Entertainment to join the Jon Watts directed film, which currently stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man alongside Melissa Tomei as Aunt May and both Zendaya Coleman and Michael Keaton locked in to play unspecified roles.
“Sorry folks but this is news to me,” D’Onofrio said on Twitter. “It would be great but I don't think it will happen.”
He added: "I love all this action about me doing Spider-Man. Tell Marvel!"
Created by writer Stan Lee and artist John Romita Sr in 1967, Kingpin was introduced to readers in Amazing Spider-Man #50. Inspired by larger than life actor Robert Middleton, Fisk became a formidable opponent to Spidey, Daredevil and The Punisher over the years.
So far, none of the stars featured in Marvel’s lineup of Netflix series have made an appearance on the silver screen.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
